FM David Pruess
David is a talented young player from the west coast. He is
spending the summer of 2002 here in NYC, and what better way
to stay sharp then to compete in the NY Masters. He is one of
the crop of players that likes to always play for the win with
the white and black pieces alike. He is proud that he has a
streak of about 50-60 games without a draw! Of course this pecularity
can also have it’s downsides, as he occasionally makes bad decisions
in order to avoid draws. Now that the summer is over he has
gone back home, although he has something great to show for
it, as at the 2002 US Open he qualified for the 2003 US Closed
Championship! It's rarer that you see anyone happier than David
was when he was sure he was in.
