IM Eli Vovsha
This talented youngster took the NY Masters by storm by going
3.5/4 in his first event, including wins over GM Stripunsky,
IM Sokolin and IM Sarkar. Since then Vovsha has continued his
solid performances, usually to be counted on for a score of
3 or 2.5. Vovsha, just 17 years old, moved to the US a year
ago. He was not so active in the chess scene during the school
year, but once the summer came he started to play more often.
He has quite a few world titles under his belt and was former
World U12 Champion. He is an IM, getting his title at the FIDE congress in Bled in October 2002.
