This tournament exists to help keep NY masters sharp and give them a chance to play Grandmasters and other masters on a regular basis

With this event we want to keep strong master chess alive in New York City! Also we hope that this event will inspire other players to become masters and thus gain the right to play every week. One way we give non-masters a chance to play is through qualification, on Steve Immitt's weekly Thursday Night Action tournament. The top U2200 in the Thursday event is granted the right to play in the NY Masters the following week.
